Canopi provides flexible workspace for UK and International Charities and other Social Sector organisations.
We exist because we’re committed to helping Charities and Social Sector organisations make their mark on the world. That’s why we provide affordable and flexible working environments, support services and events for a like-minded community of people who all want to do good work.
As a Social Enterprise ourselves, we’re motivated to make a difference. We understand your challenges and are big advocates of collaboration and community to facilitate great work, that’s why we thrive together.
I would like to pay a special tribute to our Founder and Social Sector Pioneer, Helen Taylor Thompson, who sadly passed away in 2020 aged 97.
Every once in a while a trailblazer comes along who effortlessly influences those they come into contact with, leaving huge positive impact without even realising it. From joining the secret service during the war, to founding Mildmay Mission Hospital, Europe’s first hospice caring for people with AIDS-related illnesses, and then founding CAN Mezzanine (now Canopi) and Education Saves Lives. Helen was a force for good throughout her life and her legacy very much lives on through Canopi today.
Helen has had a huge impact on me in both a personal and a professional capacity. As Chief Executive I see my role as a custodian of Helen’s vision, ambitions and of course her legacy. Fundamentally she was uncomfortable with the inequality in the world, determined to make a difference and when spotting a need, repeatedly saying “We have to do something!”
And we as an organisation are doing just that. Following the impact of Covid and the behavioural changes in how we work, Canopi has been re-imagined to suit the evolving needs of today’s Social Sector. I’m thrilled to be leading a dynamic team and to be a part of such a positive period for change. Welcome to Canopi and do keep an eye out for more exciting news around our flagship Southwark site opening in 2024, it promises to be a real game changer ‘for good’.
