The challenge: A growing team, but drifting apart
As Settle expanded, the limitations of its previous office became increasingly clear. Located in a quiet residential area with limited transport links and few nearby amenities, the space was simply not set up for the way the team worked.
The team who spend much of their time supporting young people had little reason to stay in the office. With minimal private areas for calls, many delivered sessions remotely from home. Meanwhile, support teams came in, but often found themselves working alongside only one or two colleagues at a time.
The result was a gradual but important shift:
- Reduced overlap between teams
- Fewer informal interactions
- A growing sense of disconnection
By March 2025, staff feedback highlighted a clear need: more opportunities to spend time together and rebuild day-to-day connection.
The solution: A workspace designed for flexibility and flow
In February, Settle moved into Canopi.
From day one, the difference was practical and immediate. The team now had:
- Flexible desk space (10 desks and 2 hot desks)
- Access to Qabin for confidential calls and Meeting Rooms for team catch ups
- A central, well-connected location
- A vibrant, welcoming environment
The office quickly became more than just a place for meeting it became a functional base for the entire team’s working day.
Team members now drop in between sessions, using the space to make calls, catch up on admin, or reconnect with colleagues. Support teams, drawn by the increased activity and energy, also spend more time in the office.
The impact: From low occupancy to meaningful connection
Although still early in their Canopi journey, Settle has already seen a marked shift in behaviour and culture.
More people in office, more often
Previously the least present part of the team are now regularly using the office as part of their routine.
Better use of time
The Qabins allow remote sessions can be delivered directly from the office, removing the need to work from home between appointments.
Stronger team cohesion
Increased overlap between teams is driving more spontaneous conversations, collaboration, and shared moments.
A workplace people choose
The office is no longer somewhere staff “have” to be – it’s somewhere they actively want to be.
A moment that mattered
The turning point came after an all-staff meeting.
Instead of packing up and leaving immediately, as had often happened before, several people stayed. They opened their laptops, settled in, and continued their day from the office.
One even shared her intention to come in more often.
“That’s when I knew for sure that we’d made the right move.”
— Dan Jones, Chief Executive, Settle
A team reconnected
Settle’s primary goal in moving was simple: bring people back together.
Just a few months in, that goal is already becoming reality.
“Since working with Canopi, we’re already seeing the team coming in more often, and spending more time together. This was our main aim when we moved office, and we’re really delighted with how well it’s gone.”
Who is Canopi right for?
Settle’s experience points to a clear fit:
- Growing organisations navigating hybrid working
- Teams that need both collaboration and quiet focus space
- Charities looking for flexibility without compromising on culture
“We’d recommend Canopi to any charity who wants a convenient, flexible space with great facilities and a good atmosphere.”
The bigger picture
Settle’s story highlights a wider shift facing many organisations today:
it’s not just where people work—it’s how space enables connection.
By creating an environment that supports real workflows and human interaction, Canopi helped turn a fragmented working pattern into a shared, energised culture in just a matter of weeks.
